Job Goal:                      Plan and implement therapeutic activities to assist special education students. 

 

Employment Terms: 10 Month Contract

                                     

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Evaluation:                 Annually by Director of Special Services

Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally;  repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 50 pounds

 

Occasional Requirements:  Lift/move up to 100 pounds

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

 

 Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Plans and manages program implementation to meet the IEP goals.
  2. Provides training to the appropriate persons to carry over therapy goals in the school setting.
  3. Maintains therapy room and equipment. 
  4. Implements program services which include: self-help, functional mobility, environmental adaptations/adaptive equipment, positioning, motor functions, sensory processing, provocation/vocational skills.
  5. Functions as a team member for MEEGs, IEPs and maintains contact with school, family, physicians, and agencies.
  6. Screens, evaluates, and reassesses to develop IEPs.
  7. Formulates PT policies and procedures.
  8. Schedules students for evaluation and treatment.
  9. Assigns and supervises caseload and responsibilities of the COTA.
  10. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
