Grounds & Paint Crew(Summer)

Qualifications:           Valid Driver’s License with Good Driving Record 

 

Job Goal:                     Keeps the district's school buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. Perform general labor inside and outside the physical plant.

 

Employment Terms: 12 Months, 8 hours per day

                                           exclusive of a lunch

                                           Occasionally, special arrangements may be made with the      

                                           supervisor if the situation warrants. Supervisor approval is required

                                           if the contract day varies.      

 

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt

 

Evaluation:                 Annually by Director of Maintenance

Regular Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee will operate mowing equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, forklifts, trucks and other mechanical or hand tool equipment.

 

Occasional Requirements: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a toolbox. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs. such as bulk furniture and equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and air compressors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outdoors and will occasionally work indoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays and non-household dust. The employee may come in contact with blood and other infectious materialsThe employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Frequently the employee will work alone and occasionally will work irregular or extended hours.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will be loud.

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Replaces and performs all functions of Custodian when needed.
  2. Performs various maintenance tasks such as equipment repair, minor housekeeping, repairs, painting etc.
  3. Performs general labor inside and outside the physical plant including district wide grounds keeping, handling materials and supplies, moving equipment, moving furniture, operating power-driven equipment, truck driving, snow plowing roofing mowing, and etc.
  4. Replaces light bulbs, moves ceiling tiles, repairs bleachers, soccer goals, and other assigned repairs in all athletic areas of district.
  5. Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Board of Education guidelines.
  6. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
