Bus Aide

Reports to:                  Director of Transportation 

 

Supervises:                 N/A

 

Qualifications:           High School Diploma or Equivalent

                                     

Job Goal:                     Assist in providing safe and efficient transportation to allow students to access the district’s curriculum and extra curricular programs. Looking for an adventure seeking individual to ride the bus and assist the driver in ensuring a safe and orderly ride for our special need’s students to and from school. Our work hours are split, so you have most of the day to free. 

 

Employment Terms: 10 Month Contract

                                                  

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt

 

Evaluation:                 Annually by Director of Transportation

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach at, below and above shoulder level, repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment; lift/move up to 15 pounds

 

Occasional Requirements:  Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 50 pounds

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Maintains good student conduct on the bus.

 

  1. Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.

 

  1. Is alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to students.

 

  1. Secures special equipment that may accompany the student.

 

  1. Assists diver and students in operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students.

 

  1. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
